Ashley Scott is a native of Louisiana and was born and raised in Baton Rouge. She received her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Louisiana State University in 2005. Ms. Scott moved to Houston in 2007 to attend law school at South Texas College of Law, where she graduated in 2010. She received the CALI award in Criminal Procedure. While in law school, Ms. Scott interned with the 257th Family District Court and Aids to Victims of Domestic Abuse. Ms. Scott was licensed to practice in Texas in 2010 and was licensed to practice in Louisiana in 2011 (now inactive).
Ms. Scott has practiced extensively in the area of LGBTQ+ law. Shortly after the United States Supreme Court legalized gay marriage, her practice primarily focused on family law and LGBTQ+ issues, which allowed her to argue multiple cases of first impression at the trial court level. Ms. Scott’s legal practice has included all aspects of family law include divorces, custody, modifications, enforcements, adoptions, premarital and post marital agreements, sperm and egg donor agreements, cohabitation agreements, and common law marriages. She has further represented parties in dividing their assets when no marriage existed.
Ms. Scott has compassionately and effectively represented clients during her family law career. She understands emotions run high in family law cases and is there to advise her clients every step of the way. She is ready to discuss settlement negotiations on behalf of her clients as well as litigate cases when the need arises. She believes that trust and transparency are the key to a successful working relationship.
